Ph: Lovely by Lucy

She started her blog around the time I started to read fashion blogs, and I am one of her first hour fans. She took a sprint to the top. In less than 2,5 years she collected 4.221 followers on Bloglovin', 6.448 people liked her Facebook page and she has got 41.985 (!!) followers on Instagram right now! She's also part of the OOTD Magazine team as a writer/contributor, she writes a monthly item for GirlsLove2Travel and she teamed up with Asos, Nelly, 7 for all mankind and many more brands and magazines.
And that's not only because she's great in PR. Her blog is full of high quality pictures of her no nonsense style. Clean and simple, from high street to high end. Her favourite fashion colour is black, mostly in the mix with gray, and still she pops out of every picture. She's got style just the way I like it!
It seems like Lucy ís 'Lovely by Lucy', it's like she líves her blog. She obviously loves blogging, breathes fashion and it seems she truly appreciates the support of all her readers (who she sweetly calls 'lovelies'). Other than lifestyleblogger Valentine I wrote about last 'Blogger crush', Lucy doesn't talk about her personal life much. When she got seriously ill early this year she posted this: 'I haven’t really shared on the blog what’s going on with you guys, partly because there’s a fine line between sharing bits of your life and sharing all of it which might make Lovely By Lucy more of a lifestyle blog than a fashion blog. Because you know, I do more than just shopping and online shopping and going to events and shooting my outfits, but that’s just what I share on this blog. Partly I also haven’t told you because I know many of you might not be interested much because you come to Lovely By Lucy for outfit inspiration (which is great) and that’s it, I don’t want to bore anyone with the nick nacks of my personal life. I do want to thank you however for all the support you’ve been giving me, that really means the world!' And that says it all.
So that's Lucy. A gorgeous girl blogging about what she wears, what she wants to wear and what inspires her. And she inspires me.
What are your thoughts about Lucy? Are you following her already?
And who's your favourite fashionblogger?

blouse - H&M trend, skirt - H&M trend, vest - H&M divided, sneakers - New Balance, band rings - H&M

Outside it's cold and days are short. It's tempting to stay inside. But then we miss out of all the autumn beauty! There's no season with so many beautiful colours as fall. The garden behind my house is full of these red and purple leafes and infront of my home everything is yellow. So I'll put on a warm vest and some sneakers and let's go. Outside! Weekend's near!

Though the place is so bright, it's easy to miss. It's in a little bystreet of one of Rotterdam's biggest shopping districts Lijnbaan. But when you find it, you can't imaging your life without it. It's thé cupcake bakery in town! They are baking fresh cupcakes, muffins, cakepops and macarons from 10 to 3 daily, and you can sit down in their girly pink and pastel cafe 'till 6 in the evening.

This dress has everything I'm looking for this winter. It has the comfyness and warmth of a sweater, but it's a dress. And it's gray. What's more classic than a black and gray combo? Can't go wrong!

Aah, my phone broke down!! It wasn't charging anymore. They think it's a software problem, I get it back in about 2 weeks. And, all my pictures are gone! I'm a year behind with my back-up, so I lost a lot. Arrrgh!
With the pictures I already uploaded to facebook I made this diary. A recap of last week:

a whole friday with my darling Daisy! I was helping her with the styling for the photoshoot for her new website - I will tell you more about that later - and it's always fun when we're together ♥ // my life. :) // obsessed with white cats much? // Rotterdam! Willemsbrug and De Hef, my city's pride // wishlist material! // Gijssie was very dirty when he came in last morning. He looks a bit like Zorro right?

I'm up to a lazy Sunday, how about you? Enjoy your day!

dress - H&M trend, boots - H&M

Everytime I wear this dress I'm thinking I should get myself more clothes of this kind. It's the perfect piece for when I don't have the time to think about what I want to wear, but still want to look good:  It's easy to combine - black tights, or grey tights, and ready! - and because of the colour and it's fit it's special on it's own. I can't get enough of it! For summer I got lot's of those dress-simple-but-fabulous dresses, but I'm on a hunt for a new winter-ish one.
Do you have an idea?

blazer - H&M trend, dress - H&M, boots - H&M

Let's be honest: I love showing you what I'm wearing. On days I don't shoot, sometimes I'm wearing something that I like so much that I feel bad I can't share it with you. I love clothes. I love the art of fashion.

But...! taking outfit pictures always feels uncomfortable. I'm no model, I don't know how to pose and how to look! I spent hours reading other blogs and always hope to learn something from their pictures. But next time I stand before that camera I feel the same: Awkward!
Rain makes it even harder to make a proper picture outside. Days like this day, I'm quickly photographed between the raindrops. You can read the displeasure on my face! :)
Luckily it's all about clothes, not about me. Today's look: a little black dress, my beloved cutout boots (I'm in desperate need of new shoes!) and that other favourite piece in my closet: a bright blazer.

How do you feel when you're photographed? And what's your fave fall item?

Ravennah4Art & Rotterdam

Rotterdam, the city with so many places
Tough guys, pretty girls, characteristic faces.
Thoughts, inspirations and unspoken words,
The thin line between the gangsters and the nerds.
There is distinction, creativity and lots of respect,
Expressive colors makes it easy to connect.

Rotterdam, amaze and never be tired,
Feel the movement, just be inspired.
The better you look, the more you will see,
Artist and people are all running free.
The Feyenoord players are fighting along,
Sometimes a setback, but life still goes on.

Rotterdam is beating like a heart,
Ravennah4art is here to take part.
Creating takes now and then more time,
I finish it anyhow, but never out of fashion,
Art is art and it is my passion.

Water, bridges, ships, take a glance,
Paint and canvas they make the balance.
Ravennah4art paintings with a voice
Loud and obvious, time to make your choice,
Surrender and please do not depart,
When you look carefully see Ravennah4art

- Ravennah

Ravennah4Art is an undefined style of artwork. Ravennah herself is lively and an open person who wants to express these characteristics in her work. Her passion is making cheerful, beautiful and expressive paintings which can be viewed for hours. By watching the paintings multiple times you see new shapes and figures every time.
Ravennah says: "I create my art as fun and crazy as i like and how i feel, using my endless creativity and imagination. It can only be unique if i create my art being myself.". Therefore Ravennah doesn't hold on to one particular style, she works with various ideas and creates in the moment. She wants to make it fun and understandable for everyone, as deep as you want and can go.

A week has past, so it's time for a new diary. It was a cold week, winter is coming... And I love it! In the November and December I still love the winter. Cozy and snug.
So last week:

I made this selfie on my free friday on my way to my bestie Desiree, I'm so into hats this fall! // Desiree's new born Felix, ain't he the cutest thing alive? love him sooo much! // a regular saturday brunch, yummie! // one of the outfits that didn't make it to a post. love the torn boyfriend jeans tho! gonna show 'm to you soon. // this new app had my full attention for a night, haha. it's really fun to make a cartoon of yourself and your friends! // Gijssies new chill place: right infront of the TV! // I'm still very content with my fringe. especially with some fat eyeliner! // I love the colourful, arty electric boxes all over town // yes, holidays are coming! found this Elvis CD for only 99 cents and I had to have it! and what do you think about my mouse grey nails? I'm loving it!

So, what are you up to this weekend?
Have a good one!

Today is our 2nd anniversary!

In the last 2 years we fell in love, kept it a secret for months because we were co-workers, broke up 2 times for short periods, both started a new job, had a longdistance relationship for 8 weeks, travelled around South-America together for 4 months and just moved in together.
Never a dull moment!
But after those 2 years I can honestly say I never met a man more loving, honest, profound, thoughtful and handsome than him. And I can think of nothing that can keep us apart.

Roel, I love you, I adore you and I'm madly in love with you! We are forever!

It's one of my favourite places in Rotterdam to have breakfast. Or lunch. The plus side of Bazar is that you can order breakfast all day long! Perfect for lazy animals like me!

skirt - H&M trend, top - Zara, tights - Zeeman, rings - H&M

When it's too cold outside, and rainy, I take outfit pictures in my own livingroom. Well, I'm not taking 'm, it's my bf Roel who deserves all the props. He's not a big fan of fashionblogs, or of taken my outfit pics, but if I aks him nicely, he's always there with the camera. Thanks, hun!
I'm a big fan of this skirt, I love the bright blue colour! Because it's so high in the waist it's hard to combine, especially during winter. With underwear, tights, a top and a blouse squished in it even shapewear can't keep me from looking 5 months pregnant... So I choose this simple black shirt with a lower back to go with it.
Perfect outfit to go to the market for some fruit and cheese, right? ;)
Have a nice Tuesday!

This Kiss - Gustav Klimt - 1907/1908 - Österreichische Galerie Belvedere

This piece of art takes me back to the summer of 2012. Me and my friend Daisy went on a citytrip to Vienna and one of the things I really wanted to see was The Kiss from Gustav Klimt. I had known it from books and postcards, but visiting Vienna meant seeing the real thing in real life. On a day with very changeable weather the two of us walked up to the Belvedere, a famous gallery with an incredibly beautiful garden around it. If you climb up there, the view is a piece of art by itself.
The Belvedere, Klimt is their pride, their bait and it sure allured me. Not only The Kiss - which still is my absolute favourite - but the whole collection is impressive. Daisy fell in love with the Judith I and I had to have the postcard of The Water Serpents II.

Back to The Kiss. There's a man kissing a woman on her cheek. What I see is a picture full of love. In his time, Gustav Klimt was a controversial person in Vienna. The man was a womanizer and his paintings were not only about love, but even more about lust. The (with gold inlaid) works of Klimt mostly show women in provocative positions. Particular for then, alluring for me. The postcard of The Kiss I bought in the Belverdere is still waiting in a huge frame down my hall to be enlarged and to be showed to everyone I welcome in my home, with as much pride as the Belvedere!

What are your thoughts about the work of Klimt?

It's getting colder outside, have a warm heart
October has passed, november is already here. Time flies!
Since I no longer can denie that winter is knocking on our door I decided to add my advantage and get inspired by all the great wintercoats this season. I fell in love with all the oversized, chuncky knit coats, the lammy's, but also the good old leather jacket. Perfect for the not so cold windy days in Holland.

For years I spent the Dutch winter in a little leather jacket, with one, two or sometimes even three big knits underneath. Not so fashionable, but I always found it hard to find that perfect winter coat. Untill the day I bought a second hand fur coat at the martket in Notting Hill. That is when I realized that winters don't need to be horrible and that it's actually nice to go outside when it's -6 degrees. I wore my fur coat for several years. This year I decided it's time for an adjustment of my winter wardrobe. And since there are so many beautiful coats this season I think that's not gonna be difficult!

 coat - H&M trend, blouse - H&M trend, hat - H&M, tights - H&M, sneakers - New Balance

Last weekend Jan was visiting. Jan is from Berlin and we met him in Buenos Aires. It was very nice to have him over and show him around in the city we live in. There are places I forgot about myself, even though I am born and raised in Rotterdam! These pictures were taken in the historic part of Delfshaven, very close to my home. I love it here. So much beauty in the middle of the slum!
What's the favourite part of your town?
